Mae Vannoy Freeze

May 10, 1903 — February 1, 2004

Mrs. Laura Mae Vannoy Freeze, 100, a resident of Big Elm Nursing Center, and formerly of East 20th Street in Kannapolis, died Sunday, February 1, 2004, at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at Rodgers Park Baptist Church. The Rev. Tony Fox and the Rev. Leon Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Mountlawn Memorial Park in North Wilkesboro, NC. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at Lady's Funeral Home and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. At other times they will be at the home of a granddaughter, Darlene Seaford, 490 Tree Limb Lane, Kannapolis. Born May 10, 1903, in Wilkes County, NC, she was a daughter of the late James Rufus Vannoy and Annie Yates Vannoy. Mrs. Freeze retired several years ago from the No. 6 weave room of Cannon Mills, Plant One. She had lived in this area for more than 60 years and was a member of Rodgers Park Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gibson Freeze, who died December 31, 1982, and a daughter, Margaret Vannoy Smith, who died May 18, 2003. Survivors include two sisters, Allie Vannoy Barnhardt Lee of Kannapolis and Mary Jane Key of Independence, Virginia; two step-daughters, Helen Rary of China Grove and Cora Lee Rufty of Louisiana; three step-sons, Paul Freeze of Davidson, Albert Freeze of China Grove and Jay B. Freeze of Baltimore, Maryland; two granddaughters, Darlene Seaford and Lynn Fox, both of Kannapolis; and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to World Vision, PO Box 9716, Dept.
