Mrs. Mattie Mae Willis Sellers Plaxco, 82, of 2420 Lane Street, Kannapolis, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2006, at Lane Street Baptist Church. Dr. Greg Pierce will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2006, at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of a sister, Nancy Sechler, 4332 Hilton Lake Road, Kannapolis. Born June 19, 1924, in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Tom Willis and Maggie Hilton Willis. She was a member of Lane Street Baptist Church and retired several years ago from Linn Mill in Landis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Odis Sellers; a sister, Irene Christy; and a brother, Charles Willis. Survivors include her husband, Robert B. Plaxco; two sisters, Helen Childress of Concord and Nancy Sechler and husband, W. C. "Butch" Sechler, of Kannapolis; and a brother, Tommy Willis and wife, Jean, of Kannapolis. The family gives special thanks to the staff at Transitional Health Services and Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, for the excellent care Mae received.
