Margaret Bell passed away on June 10, 2010 due to heart failure. She was born on December 19, 1927 to her beloved parents, Elmer Bernard (Jack) Elliott and Gladys Moore Elliott in Concord, NC. Margaret graduated from Concord High School and Presbyterian School of Nursing in Charlotte. She was a nurse in Charlotte for many years spending most of her career at the Nalle Clinic working with Dr. Christ Koconis for over 27 years. She and Dr. Koconis retired together when the Nalle Clinic closed in 2000. Dr. Koconis and his wife Marge have remained dear friends. Margaret was a dear mother to her three daughters, Betsy Griffin, Nancy Shaw and Meg Newton. She was a wonderful mother-in-law to Ed Shaw and Kris Newton. She cherished and adored her four grandchildren, Eddie and Griffin Shaw and Kayley and Amy Newton. She was always a loving and great friend! She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, being with her family and her beloved cat Scarlett. She was predeceased by two husbands, The Honorable Judge Kenneth A. Griffin and James B. Bell. Margaret was truly a beautiful, graceful and poised lady who will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. Even through her very difficult illness she remained polite and loving to all who cared for her. The family would like to thank Dr. Emmett Mathews, Cindy and Lisa at Randolph Cardiology for all of their care and support during our Mom's illness. We would also like to thank all the nurses and staff on 3D floor, 4D floor and CCU at Presbyterian Hospital for their compassion and care for our mother and her family. A graveside service will be held Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 2 pm at Oakwood Cemetery, 471 Church Street N, Concord, NC, with Priest Scot McComas officiating. A reception will follow at the home of Nancy and Ed Shaw, 1806 Bobolink Lane, Charlotte NC. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, Park Road, Charlotte, NC or Wing Haven Garden and Bird Sanctuary, 248 Ridgewood Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28209.
