Margaret Johnson Smith

Mrs. Magaret Johnson Smith, 81, a resident of Autumn Care of Salisbury, and formerly of 708 Mack Street, Salisbury and South Ridge Avenue, Kannapolis, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Autumn Care of Salisbury. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, March 24, 2006, at Calvary Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Rev. Max Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Mrs. Smith was born April 4, 1928 in Chesterfield County, SC. She was a daughter of the late Smith Johnson and Ellen Jordan Johnson. She was retired from the Weave Room of Cannon Mills Plant Four in Kannapolis. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the DAV Auxiliary, where she was past chaplain and Senior Vice Commander. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie E. Smith, Sr., in January 1982; and a son, Thomas E. Smith. Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Judy S. Sutton of Salisbury; son, Lonnie E. Smith, Jr. of Ocala, FL; sister, Beulah Laney of Cheraw, SC; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
