Margie Lucinda “Cindy” Harmon Fisher, 76, of Kannapolis, NC, died peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis after several years of declining health. Cindy was born on October 15, 1946, the daughter of James Samuel Harmon, Jr. and Lucy Perry Shull, and the step-daughter of Milburn Ralph Shull. She was a 1964 graduate of A.L. Brown High School and attended Wingate College. She was previously married to George Bruce, “Rocky” Fisher, Jr. who preceded her in death. Some of the happiest times for Cindy took place in 1963 while in high school where Rocky, Cindy, her brother-in-law, Phil Fisher, and longtime friend, Jerry Davis, started a folk music quartet, better known as The Travelers Four, which traveled the area performing on local television and radio shows, college campuses, and clubs, culminating in the recording of original songs on the Arthur Smith label, Admiral Records. She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and her love of music was endless.
Early in her career, Cindy was employed in the nursing home industry as an Activity Director and Admissions Director. Her love of patients transcended into her becoming the President of the Resident’s Council at Transitional where she lived for the past four years. She was always worried about the residents and used her first-hand knowledge to help them in any way she could. She was an extremely talented and gifted artist and her passion and love for crafting was evident in the many journals, books, paintings, and bookmarks she gave to friends and staff members. Her love of makeup carried into her years long career with Belk Department Store as a freelance makeup artist and counter manager for Lancôme Cosmetics. She will be missed by the many customers she made throughout her career. She was even known to provide makeovers to the staff and residents of the nursing home from time to time. She loved her weekly Bible studies and would attend online once she became homebound. Her study group became a huge part of her life. She loved the many years she lived at the beach while enjoying beach music and shag dancing, her family, the Carolina Panthers and Clemson Tigers, never missing a football game, but more importantly, she loved her Lord.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, G. Bruce Fisher, III, (Kim), daughter, Lucinda Fisher Stewart (Jeff), grandson, Brandon Taylor Rapp, all of Kannapolis, Cameron Kajohn (Erika), Kansas City, KS, granddaughters, Kennedy and Sydney Stewart, Harrisburg, and great-grandsons, Michael, Jackson, and Anderson Kajohn, Kansas City, KS, as well as many cousins and special friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis for the excellent and special care they gave to Cindy during her stay.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081 and will be officiated by Pastor Eddie Spencer. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the church parlor, and refreshments will be provided after the service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Cabarrus County, 2010 Wilshire Court, Concord, NC 28025. Lady’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
