Mrs. Marie Elizabeth Fisher Sims, 93, of 1216 Berkshire Drive, died Friday, July 20, 2007, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:30 pm Sunday, July 22, 2007, at Bethpage Presbyterian Church. Rev. Darryl Baker and Dr. Steven L. Mowery will officiate. Interment will follow at Bethpage Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm Sunday at Bethpage Presbyterian Church. At other times, the family will be at the home. Mrs. Sims was born April 15, 1914 in Cabarrus, NC. She was a daughter of the late Charles Albert Fisher and Lucy Freeze Fisher. She worked for Cannon Mills as an overedger in the washcloth department of Plant 1. She had a deep and abiding love for the members of Bethpage Presbyterian Church where she was a member. She also took great joy in her eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 78 years, James Sims and two sisters, Marlyn Lowery and Hazel Thompson. Mrs. Sims is survived by daughter, Jean Kirkman of Kannapolis, NC; brother, Joe Fisher of Kannapolis, NC; three grandchildren, Deborah Triece and husband, Randy, Danny Kirkman and wife, Elizabeth, and Doug Kirkman and Glenda Kirkman; eight great grandchildren, Brooke Iosue and husband, Mike, Ross Kirkman, Ryan Kirkman, Douglas Kirkman, Tanner Triece, Rebecca Kirkman, Madison Kirkman, and Meredith Kirkman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethpage Presbyterian Church, 6020 Mooresville Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
