Marion Cecil Benham

July 24, 1928 — November 14, 2022

Mrs. Marion "Kitty" Cecil Benham, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 14, 2022, in Concord.

She was born on July 24, 1928 in Syracuse, NY. Her parents were the late Ruth and Wesley Hirst. Her children are Rev. Philip (Flip) Benham and Christine (Chrissy) Evans. She was married to James (Jimmy) Eddy Benham on May 17, 1947 in Syracuse, NY. She was primarily a homemaker, but she was very proud to work shortly for Mohawk Airlines in Syracuse, NY. Her hobbies, interests and activities were being a member of a golf club everywhere she lived, playing bridge with her friends, bowling, jigsaw puzzles and keeping her mind sharp with crossword puzzles.

While being married, they lived in Syracuse, NY, Dallas, TX and Poinciana, FL. Kitty was a very strong person while raising her children and she taught swimming to disabled children in Syracuse at the YMCA. She was proudest of all being married to Jimmy Benham and being the mother of Reverend Flip Benham and Chrissy Evans. Her whole world was her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, James "Jimmy" Eddy Benham; and two sisters, Betty Watson and June Demarest.

Mrs. Benham is survived by her son, Reverend Flip Benham and daughter, Chrissy Evans, both of NC; six grandchildren, Stephy Gamble of TN, Tracy Kean, David Benham, Jason Benham, Abigail Cummings and Johnny Benham, all of NC; 17 great grandchildren, Evan Gamble, Eli Gamble and Ellianna Gamble, all of TN, Corban Kean, Carson Kean, Connor Kean, Bailey Benham, Ty Benham, Ella Benham, Ava Benham, Chase Benham, Trae Benham, Allie Benham, Jake Benham, Lundi Benham, Audrey Cummings and Clark Cummings, all of NC; and sister, Jannie Johns of Manlius, NY.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, November 21, 2022, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday at the Historic Salisbury National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 am Monday at Lady's Funeral Home.
