He was a retired employee of Kannapolis Sprinkler Company having worked for them from 1964 to 2007 and was a veteran of the U S Marines. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Judith Hess Schrum; one daughter, Debra Chambers of China Grove; one sister, Mary Alice Carney of Troutman; one grandson, Christopher Wayne Talley and fiancee, Jennifer Benda both of Kannapolis Daddy left behind his earthly possessions, but more importantly, he left something I can carry with me as I continue my journey. He taught me as much in his dying as he did in his living especially, how to trust God in all circumstances, even difficult ones like Parkinson's disease (Proverbs 3:5-6) He also demonstrated that only God can give us "peace...which surpasses all comprehension" (Phil.4:7) And he showed me in a tangible way that "to live is Christ and to die is gain" (Phil. 1:21). I look forward to the time when I can walk hand in hand with him again. "I love you, God loves you and you are never alone". Debra Chambers Our wonderful father, you dedicated your whole life to making us smile. Our lives are a testament to all of the special things we learned from you about love. We are who we are today, because of you. The lessons you taught us will always be remembered, and the precious moments and memories never forgotten. We love you. Christopher Talley
