Mark James McKibben, 39, of Holly Ridge Road, Rockwell, died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Anne Torrence, the Rev. Carl Burrow and the Rev. Andrew Byrd will officiate. Interment will be at a later time at Valley View Cemetery in New Castle, PA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Born April 8, 1969 in New Castle, Penn., Mark was the son of Richard McKibben and Janet Bright McKibben. He was a graduate of West Montgomery High School in Troy. He had been employed with the City of Concord for the past 7 1/2 years, and was previously employed with Food Lion. He attended Concord First Assembly. Survivors include his mother, Janet Bright McKibben of New Castle, Pa.; father, Richard McKibben and wife, Marilyn, of Bradenton, Fl.; brother, Doug McKibben of New Castle, Pa.; nephew, Matthew McKibben of New Castle, Pa.; his fianc e, Amy McCommons and their children, Samuel (age 8) and Breanna (age 5) of Kannapolis; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Mark was an avid sports fan. His hobbies included following the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, and the Boston Celtics. He served as a coach with Upward Soccer and had the privilege of coaching Samuel. He enjoyed taking Samuel to many sporting events. Mark was devoted to Amy, Samuel and Breanna in caring for them and making their lives special. He enjoyed spending time at the beach with Amy and the children. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Memorials may be sent to Concord First Assembly, Kidz World or Kidz Jr., 150 Warren C. Coleman Blvd., Concord, NC 28027.
