Marlene Beaver

Mrs. Marlene Oakley Beaver, 80, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, at Carillon Assisted Living in Salisbury.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Allen Schuyler will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Lady’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Beaver was born on May 28, 1933 in Gastonia. She was the daughter of the late Richard A. Oakley and Lucresia Harkey Oakley. She graduated from Cannon High School and from the Women’s College of Greensboro. Mrs. Beaver worked in several day cares and later had a home day care. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mooresville and was a former member of Candlewyck Baptist and Park Road Baptist Church in Charlotte.

Mrs. Beaver is survived by three daughters, Roxie Beaver Johnson, LaVonne Beaver Pope and husband, Tim and Suzette Beaver Pope and husband Tracy, all of Kannapolis; one sister, Shirley Oakley Cook of Concord; ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
