Martha Sims Crook

Mrs. Martha Sims "Estell" Crook, 81, of 6060 NC Highway 152 West, Mooresville, died Friday, April 9, 2004, at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2004, at Solid Rock Worship Center in Kannapolis. The Rev. Raymond Davis will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. At other times they will be at the residence. Born April 24, 1922, in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Sidney William Sims and Eva Mae Guffey Sims. She retired after 45 years of service from Cannon Mills. She later worked for K-Mart and Ryan's Steak House. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Cooper Crook, who died in 1980. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Adams of the home; two sisters, Rena Mae Auten of Kannapolis and Dorothy Early of Marion; four brothers, Arthur Sims, Jonas Sims, Harden Sims and Paul Sims, all of Rutherfordton; two grandchildren, Clyde B. "Buddy" Adams III and Jackie Lynn Moore; and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Cabarrus County, PO Box 1235, Concord, NC 28026-1235.
