Martha Stroup Russell

Mrs. Martha Stroup Russell, 87, of 1814 Brantley Road, Kannapolis, died Sunday, August 7, 2005, at Transitional Health Services. A graveside service with interment to follow will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Tim Jernigan will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. Born May 17, 1918 in Charlotte, she was a daughter of the late Holcolm McClain Stroup and Betsy Graham Stroup. She retired from the Kannapolis City School System and was an active member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Zeb V. Russell, Sr., who died on March 3, 1998. Survivors include two sons, Zeb V. Russell, Jr. and his wife, Sharon Pless Russell, and Richard Wayne "Rick" Russell, all of China Grove; a brother, H. M. Stroup of Fayetteville; a sister, Elizabeth Burgess of Bailey; two grandchildren, Jason Wayne Russell and Chris Russell; and a great-grandchild, Cody Lee Russell. The family request memorials be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
