Martin Ray Sides

Mr. Martin "Marty" Ray Sides, 88, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Mecklenburg Health & Rehabilitation Center in Charlotte.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, February 16, 2020, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. John Futterer will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Mr. Sides was born December 27, 1931 in Concord. He was a son of the late Horace Sides and Joyce Edsell Sides. He was a member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. He received his undergraduate degree from UNC Chapel Hill and his Master's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He worked for the former Kannapolis Sanitary District and then the Kannapolis City Public Works Department where he was the Department Manager.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lentz Sides; and a brother, Carroll Franklin Sides.

Mr. Sides is survived by son, Michael Sides and wife Jill of Kannapolis; brother, Jack Sides of Concord; two grandchildren, Justin Sides of Kannapolis and Emily Sides of San Francisco, CA.
