Marvin Reid Barringer, 82, of Kannapolis, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, June 29th, 2026.

Marvin was born on September 6th, 1943 in China Grove, NC to the late Flowe Ella Hart Barringer and William Elmer Barringer.

In 1960, Marvin met his future wife, Linda Kay Shinn Barringer, outside the Gem Theater in Kannapolis, NC and they were married on April 25th, 1964. Marvin and Linda were married for almost 58 years until Linda went home to be with the LORD on April 2nd, 2022.

Marvin was employed for 25 years with Cannon Mills/Fieldcrest-Cannon/Pillowtex working third shift as a maintenance mechanic. He also owned both an asphalt paving company and a painting company for many years.

In addition to his parents, Marvin is predeceased by a sister, Patricia Ann Hill of Kannapolis.

Marvin and Linda had two daughters, Elizabeth Wesly Barringer Bass (59) and Ginger Ree Barringer Fennell (55). Marvin had four grandchildren in total. Rachel Alexandra Bass (27), David Andrew Bass (25) and Alexander Bradford Bass (21) are grandchildren from his daughter Elizabeth and her husband Lawrence Bradford Bass. Greta Isabella Fennell (21) is the granddaughter of his daughter Ginger and her husband Donald Henry Fennell, Jr. He is also survived by his brother, Gene Barringer.

Special memories held by both daughters are the yearly vacations taken with the family to various places like the North Carolina beaches, Florida, Ohio and the Bahamas. They were always great fun and a special time for the family.

Marvin will be cremated and a graveside service will occur at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, NC on July 22nd, 2026 at 2:00 pm.
