Marvin Taylor Westmoreland

Mr. Marvin Taylor "Wes" Westmoreland, 89, passed away Friday, October 7, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 am Monday, October 10, 2011, at Unity United Methodist Church. Rev. Timothy L. Whittington will officiate. Entombment will follow at Unity United Methodist Church Cemetery in Kannapolis. Masonic graveside rites will be provided by the Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge. Mr. Westmoreland was born February 4, 1922 in Iredell County. He was the son of the late Othor Westmoreland and Julia Whitley Westmoreland. He retired from Cannon Mills where he worked as a welder. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. Mr. Westmoreland was a member of Unity United Methodist and also a member of the Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Lipe Westmoreland. Mr. Westmoreland is survived by daughter, Karen McKheean of Kannapolis; granddaughters, Shannon McKheean and Lisa Redman and great granddaughter, Mallory Taylor Redman.
