Mary A. Ross

Mary A. Ross, 77, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at her home in Duluth, GA.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Trey Palmer will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mary was born on August 30, 1941 in Cabarrus County to the late Walter Fryer and Mary Stiff Tennent. She grew up in Kannapolis and went to school there, and later worked in Cannon Mills. She was of the Baptist faith, but also attended non-denominational churches. Her first marriage was to Arnold Ray Hyman for 18 years. She then moved to Massachusetts, where she met and married her second husband, William Ross. After several years, they moved to the Atlanta area. She died less than 2 weeks from their 44th wedding anniversary. She was a two time cancer survivor, along with many other health problems, including stroke.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, William Ross of Duluth, GA; her sisters, Jeanette Fryer of Gastonia and Lisa Baildon of Raleigh; her brother, Michael Fryer of Honolulu, HI; four children, Debra Morris of Salisbury, Ray Ross of Kannapolis, Cathy Overcash of Kannapolis and Ron Ross of Macon, GA. Also, among her children is Erica Ross, of whom she had full custody. Mary had six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
