Mrs. Mary Catherine Honeycutt Patterson, 72, of 2887 Centergrove Road, died Friday, August 1, 2008 from complications following surgery on June 16th. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2008, in Center Grove Lutheran Church. The Rev Diane Wells and Rev Maurice Staley will officiate. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home and at other times will be at her home on Centergrove Road. Mary Catherine was born in Cabarrus County on May 14, 1936, a daughter of the late, Rufus Edgar Honeycutt and Jennie Sides Honeycutt. She retired from her profession as a registered nurse due to rheumatoid arthritis from which she suffered many years. A member of Center Grove Lutheran Church she was also active in the Cabarrus Democratic Party, the Humane Society and the Red Hat Ladies. She had also been very active with the Cabarrus County Compassionate Friends in tribute to her son, Charles Mark Patterson who died in September 1980 at the age of 15. Her husband, Cecil Bernard Patterson also preceded her in death in January 1996. Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Patterson Church and husband Melvin of China Grove, two sons, Fred A. Rogers and wife Carolyn of Burr Ridge, IL and John A. Rogers of Kannapolis. Also surviving are her three grandchildren, Dara Smith, George Rogers and Charles Rogers.
