Mary Ella Poe Hilton

Mrs. Mary Ella Poe Hilton, 81, of China Grove, passed away at her home on Saturday, August 13, 2011 after several months of declining health. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Carolina Memorial Park. Rev. Leon Smith will officiate. The family will meet with friends and family following the service. Mrs. Hilton was born February 20, 1930 in Cabarrus County, NC. She was a daughter of the late James Floyd Poe and Lillie Mae Wilburn Poe. She was a retired seamstress, she also loved to cross stitch, work picture puzzles, spend time with her great-grandchildren and was a devoted fan of Nascar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Herman Keith Hilton, four sisters, Willie Hatley, Betty Keisler, Savanna Donner, Carolyn Lockleer and a brother James "Jimmy" Poe. Mrs. Hilton is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Hilton Skeen and husband Hershal of China Grove, one granddaughter, Angela Michelle Skeen Reid and husband Jason of Salisbury; one great-grandson, Bradley Reid and two great-granddaughters, Ashley Reid and Brittany Reid all of Salisbury; one sister Leola Smith of Concord and a brother, Jack Poe of Kissimmee, FL, Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Rowan County, 512 Klumac Road, Suite 3, Salisbury, NC 28144 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
