Mary Lee Swicegood Riggs

Mrs. Mary Lee Swicegood Riggs, 99, a resident of Five Oaks Manor, and formerly of Rogers Lake Road, Kannapolis, died Sunday, December 31, 2006, at the nursing center. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Curtis Parker will officiate. Born March 6, 1907, in Davie County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Swicegood and Flora Belle Greene Swicegood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Riggs, who died Janaury 17, 1976; two sons, Earl Riggs and John G. Riggs, Jr.; two daughters, Lamina Griffin and Mary Anne Gentle; a granddaughter, Patricia Bradley, and two grandsons, John G. Riggs III and Scottie Griffin. Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Upright and husband, Herman, and a son, Larry Riggs and wife, Nelda, all of Concord; 13 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
