Mattie Kerley Dancy

Mrs. Mattie Kerley Dancy, 92, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017, at her home.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Lakeview Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Cole will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 12:45 pm Tuesday at Lakeview Baptist Church.

Mrs. Dancy was born June 10, 1925 in Alexander County. She was a daughter of the late Harlin Kerley and Grace Laws Kerley. She retired from Cannon Mills where she worked as a loom filler. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church for 15 years. She loved word puzzles and reading her Bible.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Columbus Dancy; a daughter, Remonia Potts; a great granddaughter, April Turner; four sisters and five brothers.

Mrs. Dancy is survived by a daughter, Sheila D. Hartsell and husband, Donald of Concord; sister, Betty Beaver of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Tammy Hartsell, Tina Turner, Pamela Gibson and Robert Potts; and two great grandchildren, Jessie Potts, Parrish Studebacker.
