Mattie Catherine Tate Strickland

Mrs. Mattie Catherine Tate Strickland, 79, of N. Juniper Avenue, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Five Oaks Manor in Concord. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Willie Rash will officiate. Interment will be 11:00 am Monday at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mrs. Strickland was born June 29, 1932 in Madison County, GA. She was a daughter of the late Henry Tate and Fannie Mae Maiden Tate. She worked for Terry Products as a seamstress. She was a member of Centerview Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Strickland; sister, Lettie Mattox; six brothers, Arthur, Baker, Brewer, Jesse, Ray and Robert Tate. Mrs. Strickland is survived by two sons, Eric and Steven Strickland, both of Kannapolis; three sisters-in-law, Frances, Gladys and Willie Mae Tate.
