Mr. Max Filmore Chandler, 87, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, at his home in Kannapolis.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Rev. James Watford will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 am Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Max was born October 2, 1935 in Kannapolis. He was a son of the late Delmar F. Chandler and Helen Sherrill Chandler. He retired from Kannapolis City Schools after 32 years of teaching and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Black Chandler in July 2016; and a sister, Frankie Brinkley.
Mr. Chandler is survived by son, Scott F. Chandler and wife Kelly of Kannapolis; daughter, Lynn C. Bertino and husband Rob of Raleigh; three sisters, Doris Craven of Asheboro, Shirley Gray and husband Earl of Kannapolis and Nancye Moon and husband Jimmy of Kannapolis; two grandsons, Max F. Chandler, II and Johnny Hodge; one great grandson, Noah Hayes Chandler and a second great grandchild coming in July.
