Max Neal Moore, 83, of Heritage Woods Senior Living in Winston-Salem, formerly of Brantley Road in Kannapolis, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center. Max was born in Union County on August 12, 1922 to the late Jesse L. Moore and Lela Cuthberson Moore. Max graduated from Monroe High School in 1939, served in the Army Air Force in World War II, and was employed by the US Postal Service for 39 years, retiring in 1983 as the Superintendent of Mail. Max was a member of First Baptist Church in Kannapolis, a member of the American Legion and the honorary "40 and 8" of the American Legion. Max was preceded in death two years ago by his loving wife of 64 years, Eunice Sloop Moore. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Herman Moore, and two sisters, Hallie Adcock and Willard Funderburk. Max is survived by one daughter, Kaye Stockton, and her husband, Perry, of Clemmons, NC; one granddaughter, Stephanie Stockton Smith, and her husband, Robert Smith, of Huntsville, AL; one great granddaughter, Perri Makenzie Smith of Huntsville, AL; and one sister-in-law, Lucille Tice of Kannapolis. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel at 268 N. Cannon Blvd., Kannapolis. Rev. Norman Brisson will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 2-3:30 pm Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.
