Maxine Johnson Beaver, 78, of Kannapolis went to be with her Lord and Savior June 8, 2022.

A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, June 12, 2022, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Leon Hawks will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Enoch Lutheran Cemetery in Kannapolis.

The service will also be streamed live at www.ladysfuneralhome.com/live.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home.

She was born February 25, 1944 in Sugar Grove, NC, the daughter of the late Grady Johnson and Texie Walker Johnson. She was preceded in death by brothers Benny Johnson, Herman Johnson, and Lane Johnson; sisters Mae Heath, Mary Johnson, Merle George, Peggy Sutton, and her twin Kathleen Jordan.

Maxine was a graduate of Cove Creek High School where she captained the cheerleading squad. Her outgoing personality meant she never met a stranger. She chose a brief career as a beautician but later became a wife and homemaker. She and Paul Beaver hosted many gatherings of family, friends, and business associates in Charlotte, Harrisburg, and Kannapolis. You were always welcome at the Beaver home! She especially loved having a large family gathering around the holidays. Maxine loved being a boy mom and would often take all the boys on school field-trips. She was always ready to help with the youth group or support the Boy Scout troop. She enjoyed several Bible study groups and always had a good time with her many cherished friends.

Maxine was a great mom, and we had a lot of fun growing up with her!

In the 1990s, Maxine returned to her beloved mountains living in both Sugar Grove, NC and Mountain City, TN. She ministered with her church singing in the choir, as a clown, and in other capacities. She always loved working with children.

Maxine is survived by her sons David R. Beaver and wife Sharon of N. Prince George, VA and P. Len Beaver and wife Lezah of Kannapolis; 4 granddaughters and 1 grandson; brother A.G. Johnson and wife Eula of Boone; sisters Zola West, Shirley Frierson and Carolyn Overholt all of Sugar Grove, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
