Mrs. Michelle Elizabeth Francis, 34, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
Michelle was born November 6, 1991 in Charlotte, NC. She was a daughter of Ronald James Havener and M. Christine Havener (née Butterfield). She was a graduate of North Greenville University in Greenville, SC, with a degree in elementary education. After teaching in Title I schools for two years, she changed careers, and worked as an IT systems administrator for a software manufacturer. Michelle was an active member of First Baptist Church of Matthews, NC.
Michelle was known for her love of Jesus, her generosity, and her kindness towards everyone around her. Her love of God’s creation inspired her appreciation of horses, the mountains, and photography. She had a creative spirit and was a gifted baker, often decorating elaborate cakes to give to family and friends. She enjoyed singing in a choir, playing piano, and playing hand bells.
Michelle was passionate about the mission of God and assisting those in need. Her favorite organization to support was A Cause for Tea, a local charity for impoverished and marginalized women and children. She gave freely of her time and resources to actively love others by helping them.
Michelle is survived by her husband, William "Bill" R. Francis IV of Kannapolis, NC; parents, Ronald J. Havener and M. Christine “Chris” Havener; sister Brittany Spitzner (née Havener) and husband David of Winston-Salem, NC; and brother Daniel Havener and wife Kayli of Raleigh, NC.
