Mrs. Mildred Irene Barringer Greene, 89, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Five Oaks Manor in Concord.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church. Rev. Carrie Bishop will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm at the church prior to the service.

Mrs. Greene was born October 11, 1929 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Guy Barringer and Mary Faggart Barringer. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, a member of WELCA, and was a former member of the church choir. Irene was also a involved with the quilting group of her church. Mrs. Greene was a long time member of the Allen Club, of the Cabarrus Extension Homemakers. She was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Harrisburg High School. Irene was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Wilson "Buck" Greene whom passed away May 30, 2012; her son, Eddie Greene; and a brother, Bud Barringer.

Mrs. Greene is survived by her daughter, Joy Hooks and husband Robert of Concord; brother, Wayne Barringer of Texas; two sisters, Eyvonne Shue of Concord and Betty Welch of Red Cross; two grandchildren, Daris Hooks of Concord and Megan Bradley of Texas; and one great grandchild, Gannon Parks.

Memorials may be sent to Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, 3600 Highway 601 South, Concord, NC, 28025.
