Mildred Elaine Query Gray

Mildred Elaine Query Gray, 83, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at her home. Mildred was born September 19, 1938 in Kannapolis. She was a daughter of the late Oscar Pete Query and Mary Bell Basinger Query.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in the Fountain Section at Carolina Memorial Park. Rev. Shawn Beaver will officiate.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by two her two sons, infant Clyde Gilbert Gray, Jr. and Jeffery "Jeff" Gray; two sisters, Kathy Popwell and Mary Moose; and her brother, Marvin Query. She is survived by two sisters, Betty Laney and Sharry Isenhour; daughter-in-law, Laura Lentz Gray; granddaughter, Katie Gray Talbert; two grandsons, Jeffery Gray and Sidney Gray; five great grandchildren, Carson and Pierce Gray and Skyler, McCoy and Hadley Talbert; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mildred retired from Cannons Mills where she worked as a weaver and also worked at Big Elm as a cook. She loved to cook, go to church, sing, going to church revivals and being with friends. She also loved to play bingo, where she won more times than some of you know. She was a member of Kannapolis Church of God and attended Boulevard Chapel. According to Laura, Mildred made the best pecan pie and candied pecans.
