Mildred Barrier Smith

Mrs. Mildred Barrier Smith, 87, of Kannpolis, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 24, 2007. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. Rev. Joseph A. Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 7:00 pm at Lady's Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born on September 23, 1920 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late George Barrier and Cora Elizabeth Troutman Barrier. She worked in the sewing room for Cannon Mills for 36 years and retired in 1982. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Eugene E. Smith, on April 25, 1992. She is survived by her devoted son, Robert W. Smith and his wife, Judy Day-Smith; three sisters, Edna Mae Bost and Mell Barrier Moose, both of Rockwell, and Minnie Bell Cline of Kannapolis; two brothers, John Barrier of Concord and Martin Henry Barrier of North Myrtle Beach, SC; one grandson, Shawn Day; one great grandson, Dylan Day; and a number of neices and nephews. The family requests that memorials be donated to Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 4500 Rimer Road, Concord, 28025.
