Mildred Smith Thomson, 100, passed away Sunday, February 5 at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Thomson will be conducted in Lady's Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012. The Rev. Brant Piper will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Charlotte, NC following the service. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home prior to the service. Mrs. Thomson was born in Spartanburg, SC on September 19, 1911, a daughter of the late Daniel Lester Smith and Pauline Haynes Smith. She retired from Mill Power Supply in Charlotte and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, crossword puzzles and stitchery and was active in the Mill Power Supply retirement group. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomson was preceded in death by her husband Everett A. Thomson;sister, Chrystelle S. Scott; and three brothers, Wilbur Smith, Joseph Smith and Paul Smith. Survivors include two daughters, Donna T. Mauldin and her husband, Bob, with whom she made her home and Sandra T. Armstrong and her husband, James VanWinkle of Duncan, SC; four grandchildren, Scott T. Kendrick and his wife, Bonnie of Waldorf, MD, Jill M. Underwood of Kannapolis, Chris S. Kendrick and his wife, Mary of Charlotte and Alex Mauldin of Matthews; five great grandchildren, Mary Katherine Underwood, Brianne Underwood, Nathan Kendrick, Ian Kendrick and Scott L. Kendrick.
