Minnie Irene Elwood Lowder

Mrs. Minnie Irene Elwood Lowder, 88, passed away Thursday, August 24th at the home of her niece, Brenda Huneycutt in Oakboro, NC where Irene resided for the last 2 years.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, August 27, 2017, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Chip Alsobrooks will officiate. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lowder was born July 4, 1929 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Thomas Elwood and Minnie Hough Elwood. She retired from Cannon Mills Plant 1 where she worked in the lab as a dye mixer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Eugene Lowder in 2007; two sons, Mark Douglas Lowder in 2011 and Jeffrey Eugene Lowder in 2017; four sisters, Emma Hanes, Mary Allman, Lela Scarboro and Dessie Earley; and eight brothers, Ebb Elwood, Floyd Elwood, Roy Elwood, Melvin Elwood, Clyde Elwood, Claude Elwood, Bill Elwood and Wilson Hough.

Mrs. Lowder is survived by sister, Margie Helms and husband Roy of Oakboro; and a brother, Ira (Doc) Elwood of Mt. Pleasant.
