Minnie Demby Mcclendon

Mrs. Minnie Demby McClendon, 89, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Big Elm Nursing Center in Kannapolis. A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Friday, August 26, 2011, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dennis Morgan will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mrs. McClendon was born April 15, 1922 in Jefferson, SC. She was a daughter of the late Steve Demby and Harriett Wallace Demby. She retired from Cannon Mills after 40 years service as a supply clerk in the sheet department. Mrs. McClendon was a member of Skyland Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her garden and canning vegetables. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer McClendon whom passed away on July 1, 1984; brothers, Frank and Edward Demby and sisters, Lydia Nicholson and Essie Jordan. Mrs. McClendon is survived by daughter, Peggy Poston of Charlotte; son, John "Jack" McClendon and wife, Judy of Kannapolis and grandson, John Eric McClendon. The family requests memorials be made to Skyland Baptist Church, 200 South Little Texas Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
