Murphy Thomas Campbell

Mr. Murphy Thomas "Tommy" Campbell, 79, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022, in Kannapolis.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:30 pm Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Mike Roper will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5:00 pm Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Campbell was born February 23, 1943 in Lumberton. He was a son of the late James Campbell and Virginia Davis Campbell. Tommy owned and operated Campbell Transfer and Storage. He was of the Baptist faith. Tommy loved his dogs, cats and chickens. He enjoyed antique cars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Stephen T. Campbell, Ecil E. Campbell, James Donald Campbell and Bobby Ray Campbell.

Mr. Campbell is survived by wife, Betty Colleen Goodman Campbell; seven children, Steven Campbell, Lonny Campbell, Thomas Ray Campbell, Thomas Earl Campbell, Christopher Campbell, Vicky Lynn Moore and Peggy Jean Campbell, all of Kannapolis; five sisters, Claudia Ann Whitley, Bobbie Biggerstaff, both of Kannapolis, Betty Long of Roxboro, Vicky Campbell of Landis and Penny Hunt of Lumberton; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
