Myra Jewell Scarboro, 83, of Prince Street, Kannapolis, died Monday, March 2, 2009, at Transitional Health Services, following one month of declining health. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Born April 15, 1925 in Kannapolis, she was the daughter of the late C. Victor Scarboro and Margaret Patterson Scarboro. She was a graduate of J.W. Cannon High School. Myra was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Drummond Bible Class. She retired in 1990 from the Sheet Finishing Department of Cannon Mills following 47 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Scarboro of Kannapolis and Lewis "Jack" Scarboro of Gaston, SC. Survivors include two sisters, Sarah S. Keever and Virginia Scarboro, both of Kannapolis; a sister-in-law, Margaret Owen Scarboro of Gaston, SC; two nieces, Jan Keever Searles of Warsaw, NC and Jean Scarboro Johnson of St. Matthews, SC; and two nephews, Ronald Scarboro of West Columbia, SC and Michael Scarboro of Gaston, SC. Memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 201 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
