Myrtle Carringer James

July 18, 1921 — June 5, 2003

Mrs. Myrtle Carringer James, 81, of 1108 Birch Street, Kannapolis, went home to be with the lord on Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Five Oaks Manor in Concord. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, June 9, 2003, at West Point Baptist Church. Rev. Greg Barefoot will officiate. Burial will follow at Kannapolis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 PM Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home of Mrs. James. Mrs. James was born July 18, 1921 in Chesterfield County, SC. She was a daughter of the late P.L. Teal and Bessie White Teal. She retired from the Distribution Center of Cannon Mills, Plant One. She was a member of West Point Baptist Church for more that 50 years. She was a poet and short story writer. She had one of her short stories, "Urgent Misson", published in "Lifeglow" magazine in November of 1995. Mrs. James, in addition to her parents, is preceded in death by her first husband, John Carringer, her second husband, Lacy James, a grandson, Kevin Collins. Mrs. James is survived by a daughter, Sandra Mowery of China Grove; son, Harold Carringer of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Roger Teal of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Amy Gittings, Eddie Mowery, Michelle Sides, Angela Carringer; 2 great grandchildren, Tyler Sides and Dylan Hull. She is also survived by Vera Thompson of Kannapolis, who became Myrtle's second daughter upon her sister's death.
