Nadine Thomason Starnes

Mrs. Nadine Thomason Starnes, 74, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:30 pm Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. George Morris will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:15 pm Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Starnes was born January 9, 1943 in Rowan County. She was a daughter of the late Travis Thomason and Beulah Boger Thomason. She owned and operated a convenience store and was also a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, mowing her yard, and cooking for her family and friends. Nadine loved her church and church family. She was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Starnes is survived by her husband of 31 years Gary Starnes; two daughters, Tabitha Deese of Salisbury and Sherri Mauldin and husband Keith of Wilmington; son, Jeff Grubb and wife Susan of Lexington, SC; step-daughter, Donna Wright and husband Joey of Kannapolis; two step-sons, Alvin Starnes of China Grove and Avery Starnes of Salisbury; two brothers, Dennis Thomason and Travis Thomason; four sisters, Kathy Brooks and husband Johnny, Joy Burgess, Pat McDaniel and Julia Thomason, all of Salisbury; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
