Ned Ernest Harrington

Ned Ernest Harrington 84, of 1006-A Moose Road, died Saturday October 29, 2005, at NorthEast Medical Center. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was deeply loved by his numerous friends and relatives. He will be greatly missed. His grandchildren especially, will miss their wonderful "Boompa". Funeral services will be conducted Monday October 31, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Rich Szekely will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service on Monday. Mr. Harrington was born December 29, 1920 in Alexander County, a son of the late Augustus Harrington and Bessie Teague Harrington. He retired from Cannon Mills and later worked at Auto Mart. During World War II he served in the US Army and was the recipient of a Purple Heart. He was also a member of the Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge and a former member and deacon at Grace Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Inez Taylor Harrington; daughters, Becky Middleton and husband, Clayton, of Kannapolis and Rhonda Harrington of Landis; sons, Jim Hodgens and wife Brenda, of Kannapolis and Darryl Harrington and wife, Kyleen of Salisbury; a brother Claude Harrington of Landis; four sisters, Ora Lee Hannah, Wrenn Rhodes and Beauford Swift all of Kannapolis and Helen Bowman of Thomasville. Grandchildren are, Brad Walker, Suzanne Hilton, Danille Cook, Kelly Murdock, Leigh Anne Filkins, Natalie Hurlbut, Gina Dahiya, Lori Russell, Jason Harrington and Tangie Williams; and 16 great-grandchildren.
