Norman Clarence Carlton

August 16, 1937 — July 6, 2011

Mr. Norman Clarence Carlton, 73, went home to be with his Heavenly Father Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at his residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Charity Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Rev. Jimmy Barrett, Rev. R. J. Hammond and Rev. Bobby Tallent will officiate. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors being conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mr. Carlton was born August 16, 1937 in Trucksville, PA. He was a son of the late June Cisco Carlton and Esther Bray Carlton. He was the founder of Alcar Construction, Inc. in Concord. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in the Korean conflict. Mr. Carlton was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Kannapolis. He formerly taught Sunday school at Poplar Grove Baptist Church. He was a strong dedicated Christian, serving in the singing ministries in area correctional facilities, whom loved and supported his family. Mr. Carlton enjoyed golfing, fishing and also hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years Aileen Pruitt Carlton; sisters, Jewell Vandruff and Marguerite Hodder and brother, June Carlton. Mr. Carlton is survived by wife, Georgia Carlton; children, Rhonda Anderson of Concord, David Carlton, Brenda Carlton-Jones, Marvin Carlton and Steven Carlton all of China Grove, Earl Anderson, Jr. of Charlotte, Barbara Gautney of Liberty and Thomas Anderson of Concord; sisters, Hazel Hutcheson of Covington, PA and Irma Rickman of Lancaster, SC; brothers, James Bidwell Carlton of Boydton, VA, Stanley Carlton of Concord and Maynard Carlton of Lancaster, SC; grandchildren, Norma Little, Thomas Anderson, II, Jeremy, Jennifer, Joshua and Jaqueline Carlton, Laurie Cook, Brandon Collins, Mandy Grice, Georgia Carlton, Jason and Shannon Hinson, Shelly and Ronnie Gautney, Anthony and Earl F. Anderson, III and twenty great grandchildren.
