Mr. Norman Monroe Harrington, 83, a loving grandfather known as "Pop" passed away on February 2, 2024.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, February 4, 2024, at North Kannapolis Baptist Church. Rev. Leon Hawks will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm Sunday at North Kannapolis Baptist Church.
Mr. Harrington was born June 26, 1940 in Concord. He was a son of the late Hugh Harrington and Zelma Bost Harrington. He was a graduate of Landis High School and Appalachian State University. He formerly worked in the drafting department at Cannon Mills until he became a Teacher at A.L. Brown High School for 34 years, where he coached the girl's tennis team. Mr. Harrington was a member of the National Guard for 6 years and the NC Association of Educators.
Mr. Harrington was also a lifelong member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church, where he sang in the church choir since he was 16 years old. He served many positions in the church over the many years, including Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director, and church Deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Harrington.
Mr. Harrington is survived by his wife, Peggy Reid Harrington; two children, Brent Harrington and wife Emily and Paige Gentry and husband Clint, both of Concord; brother, Dennis Harrington and wife Brenda of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Joyce Harrington of Asheboro; three nieces; and four grandchildren, Olivia Gentry, Carson Harrington, Grant Gentry, and Grayson Harrington.
