Olin P. Childers, Sr.

Mr. Olin P. Childers, Sr., 80, formerly of Corriher St., died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Liberty Commons Nursing in Salisbury. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Buddy N.C. Strickland and Rev. Robert D. Howard will officiate. Interment will follow at Kannapolis Cemetery. A Celebration of Remembrance for family and friends will immediately follow the burial at The Amity House at Lady's. Mr. Childers was born May 30, 1929 in Kannapolis. He was a son of the late Lester Paul Childers and Fannie Victoria Wike Childers. He retired from Cannon Mills after 45 years of service working in the sheet department. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Childers. Mr. Childers is survived by his wife, Betty Strickland Childers; two daughters, Paula Jordan and husband, Scott of Salisbury and Vicki Stokes and husband, Keith of China Grove; three sons, Michael Childers and Greg Childers, both of Kannapolis and Paul Childers and wife, Charlene of Rockwell; one brother, Robert Childers and wife Betty of Kannapolis; 11 grandchildren, Michelle Hadad, Whittney Jordan, Ashley Hileman, Brittany Shepherd, Aaron Childers, Anna Childers, Jonathan Childers, Jason Stanley, Josh Stanley, Tyler Stokes and Samantha Stokes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Lakewood Baptist Church, 806 Kluttz Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
