Oscar Thomas Self

Mr. Oscar Thomas Self, 76, of 425 Pleasant Avenue, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gary Posey will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 pm Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home on Pleasant Avenue. Mr. Self was born February 6, 1935 in Chesterfield, NC. He was a son of the late Perry Self and Ola Johnson Self. He worked and retired from Cannon Mills as a machine fixer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Self on July 28, 2010 and a granddaughter, Amy Marie Self Benfield on January 15, 2011. Mr. Self is survived by daughter, Linda Self of Kannapolis; two sons, Randy Self and wife, Cindy and Timothy Self, all of Kannapolis; three brothers, Bo Self, Crawford Self and Winston Self; two sisters, Dot Bradley and Zeata; and six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
