Owen Sylvester Parrish

Mr. Owen Sylvester Parrish, 87, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018, at his home.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Sammy Case will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Parrish was born September 9, 1930 in Onslow County. He was a son of the late Sylvester Parrish and Clara Wooten Parrish. He was a member of Gloryland Baptist Church in Charlotte. He enjoyed singing and fishing at the coast. Mr. Parrish witnessed to many people during his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Morgan Parrish; daughter, Shelia Johnson; son, Gary Parrish; sister, Dixie Hines; and numerous step and half siblings.

Mr. Parrish is survived by his daughter, Tanya Torrence of Concord; sons, Kelly Morgan of Mt. Gilead, Charles Parrish of Jacksonville and Chris Chrichton of Richmond, VA; brother, JD Parrish of Holly Ridge; 11 grandchildren, Misley Mullen, Eddie Hansley, Jr., Robert Ellis, Morgan Torrence, Jason Morgan, Brandon Morgan, Sandi Coppinger, Chuck Parrish, Charles Parrish, Jr., Bianca Andrews and Megan Wolfe; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
