Peggy Joyce Gainey

Peggy Joyce Foster Gainey, 75, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim McQueen will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:30 pm Wednesday prior to the service at Lady’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gainey was born on March 11, 1939 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late John Harrison Foster and Margaret Miles Foster. She retired from Cannon Mills, Plant 1, as a towel inspector. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Peggy loved and cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed the beach, fishing and working in her yard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, J. Douglas Furr; and life time companion, C. David Miles.

Mrs. Gainey is survived by her six children, Earl Furr and wife Robin of Mt. Pleasant, Edward Gainey of Rockwell, Joyce Graves and husband Delano of Linwood, Susan Shue and husband Wayne of New London, Bonnie Lovins and husband Jeff of Concord and Deloris Lambert of Albemarle; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
