Pernell Eugene Jenkins

Mr. Pernell Eugene Jenkins, 69, of S. Bostian Street, Kannapolis, died Monday, July 2, 2007 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tom Parrish and the Rev. G.W. McCollugh III will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 6:45 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. Mr. Jenkins was born in Cabarrus County on February 19, 1938, a son of the late the Rev. Henry Paul Jenkins and Katherine Gentle Jenkins. He was very active with the Kannapolis Moose Family Center # 1722 and the Tar Heel Legion # 158. Survivors include his wife, Sybil Sweezy Jenkins; children, Dwayne L. Jenkins and Tonda Spears of China Grove, Shelby Clark of Landis, Mickey Jenkins of Kannapolis, Dawn Davis of Charlotte and James Small of Mt. Ulla; two brothers, Billy Jenkins of Kannapolis and Richard Jenkins of Rocky Mount; a sister, Betty Jo Livengood of Kannapolis; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
