Phyllis Benson

Mrs. Phyllis Bost Benson, 82, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the Brian Health and Retirement Center in Mooresville.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Concord. Rev. Danny Wilson and Rev. Charlie Gibbons will officiate. Interment will follow at the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Lady's Funeral Home and on from 1 to 2:00 pm , Wednesday, at the church prior to the service.

Mrs. Benson was born on July 10, 1930 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of William Simpson Bost and Ida Parris Bost. She retired after 27 years of service as a Teacher Assistant at W. R. Odell Elementary School in the Cabarrus County school system. Mrs. Benson was a lifelong member of Shiloh United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday School teacher, youth leader and former Christian Woman of the year.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mason "Bill" M. Benson.

Mrs. Benson is survived by three sons, Myrl Benson and wife Tona of Landis, Wayne Benson and wife Sherrie of Concord and Ray Benson and wife Diane of Kannapolis; sister, Nancy Christenbury and husband Paul of GA; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
