Rachel Hawsley Buckwell

Mrs. Rachel Hawsley Presson Buckwell, 93, of Cline School Road, Concord, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at NorthEast Medical Center, after being in declining health for three months. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2005, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joseph A. Miller will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dr. Daron "Chip" Buckwell, Jr., Randal B. Buckwell, Kenneth W. Buckwell, Douglas A. Buckwell, Roy A. Gray, and Clyde "Rusty" Drye, Jr. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Born May 25, 1911, in Orlando, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Vernon A. Presson and Mary Ann Laney Presson. She retired August 25, 1982 from the Wrapping Department at Cannon Mills, Plant One in Kannapolis, after 52 years of service. She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and the WELCA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Moroney Buckwell; a daughter, Betty Ann Buckwell Bost; and six brothers and sisters. Survivors include three sons, Ronald "Buck" Buckwell of the home, Daron G. Buckwell and his wife, Ruby, of Concord, and Jimmy Ray Buckwell and his wife, Cynthia, of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren, Dr. Daron "Chip" Buckwell, Jr., Randal B. Buckwell, Tamara Bost Gray, Kenneth W. Buckwell and Douglas A. Buckwell; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Buckwell, Tyler Buckwell, Ashleigh Gray, Hunter Buckwell and McKenna Buckwell; and a sister-in-law, Margie Spry of Taylorsville.
