Rebecca "Becky" Roberts Drye

January 26, 1934 — September 6, 2025

Becky Roberts Drye, age 91, died on September 6, 2025. She was at peace, with her family by her side.

Becky was an energetic and vivacious woman with a sparkle in her eyes. She was kind and gracious with everyone she met. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who never tired of sharing food, laughs, and hugs with her family and friends.

She was born in Landis to the late Benjamin Roy Roberts and the late Maude Turner Roberts on January 26, 1934. She was a 1952 graduate of Landis High School, and she attended Kings Business College in Charlotte. An enterprising and successful businesswoman, she owned and operated Mister Jeans Sportswear in Landis with her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Clark Corriher.

Becky was a faithful and beloved member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ, where she led Bible studies, taught Sunday School, and played in the handbell choir. She was a dedicated volunteer and donor to Main Street Marketplace in China Grove. For many years, she and her late husband Gordon Drye enjoyed delivering hot lunches for Meals on Wheels. Throughout her life, she found ways to encourage and support people who were elderly, disabled, and in need.

Becky and Gordon enjoyed a long and happy retirement together. They traveled widely, and made friends wherever they went. They lived for 15 years in Roaring Gap, NC, where they took great pleasure in playing golf and card games with friends, and exploring the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. They moved to China Grove in 2007, where she lovingly cared for Gordon through several years of declining health. She and her siblings were best of friends, and they loved to get together for “game day,” when they would play cards and board games, eat, and laugh all day.

Becky was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Drye, her son Joe Helms, and two siblings. She is survived by son Mark Helms (Cheryl Hemmer) of China Grove; daughter Anne Corriher (Clark) of China Grove; daughter-in-law Julie Helms of Charleston, SC; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
