Richard Wright Eagle, 89, of Dawson Street, Kannapolis, died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at St. Enoch Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Mark Beam will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home of a son, Kevin Eagle, 220 Longfield Drive, Mooresville. Born June 13, 1920 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Charles Edward Eagle and Mary Ritchie Eagle. He was a member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church, where he was the oldest active member, served as a Sunday School teacher and on the church council. He retired from the No. 6 Weave Room of Cannon Mills, Plant, No. 1. Mr. Eagle was a US Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Lois Swink Eagle; three sons, Rick Eagle and wife Laurie of Woodleaf, David Eagle and Judy Jordan of Salisbury, Kevin Eagle of Mooresville; three sisters, Nancy Roughton of Elizabeth City, Della Mae Wright of Enochville, Ellen Correll of China Grove; a brother, Bobby L. Eagle and wife Colleen of Kannapolis; two grandchildren, David Eagle, Jr. and wife Leslie, and Rachel Sueann Eagle; and a great-granddaughter, Meghan Elizabeth Eagle. Memorials may be sent to St. Enoch Lutheran Church, 701 Campbell Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
