Richard Eugene Mcelhannon

Richard Eugene McElhannon, 61, of Cannon Farm Road, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, September 1, 2011, at the VA National Cemetery Salisbury. Mr. Jody Blythe will officiate with full military honors to follow. A gathering for family and friends will follow the service at his home. Mr. McElhannon was born April 7, 1950 in Syracuse, NY. He worked for Rowan County Schools with their maintenance department and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Vietnam conflict. He is survived by four daughters, Brenna, Karalynn, Kathryn and Amanda; three sons, Chris, Michael, and Robbie; three brothers, Robert, Jamie and Roger; eight grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
