Robert Mitchell "Bob" Bostian, 89, a resident of the North Carolina State Veterans Home, and formerly of Landis, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the care facility. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2009 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. James Rollings and the Rev. Don Noblitt will officiate. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Born December 12, 1919 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Robert Rufus Bostian and Margaret "Maggie" Smith Bostian. He retired several years ago from Cannon Mills after 47 years of service. Mr. Bostian was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Cornerstone Church in Landis. He had lived a joyful life in spite of having Alzheimer's for 15 years. He had the most contagious smile and loved to sing. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Frances Stewart Bostian; two daughters, Sheila B. Graham and husband, Joel, of Denver; Suzanne B. Rainwater and husband, Bennie, of Landis; a sister, Audrey Flowers of Terrell; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Rowan County, 720 Grove Street, Salisbury, NC 28144 or the North Carolina State Veterans Home, PO Box 599, Salisbury, NC 28145.
