Robert Darrell Cranford

Mr. Robert Darrell Cranford, Sr., 82, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011, at the W. G. "Bill" Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury. A graveside service will military rites is scheduled for 2:30 pm Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Carolina Memorial Park. Mr. Cranford, known as "Buffalo Man", was born October 13, 1928 in Kannapolis. He was a son of the late Adam L. Cranford and Ethel Price Cranford. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of service as an aircraft mechanic. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Northrop in Saudi Arabia. n addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Robert Darrell Cranford, Jr. Mr. Cranford is survived by son, Ricky Cranford of Panama City, FL; sister, Myrtle Broome of Kannapolis; brother, Everette E. Cranford of San Bernardino, CA; step-daughter, Terry Furr Frye and husband Leonard of Concord; five grandchildren, Kayla and Katlin Cranford of Panama City, FL, Aymee Cranford Weaver and husband Mark of Blakely, GA, Jason Frye and wife Jennifer and Brian Frye and wife Cissy, all of Concord; and six great grandchildren, Nick and Chase Weaver, Jaxon and Jaleigh Frye and Joanna and Jesse Frye.
